I quit the gym.

Three years ago, I started going to the gym with my husband, in an effort to get him in better shape. Before that, I went to a gym here and there but, I like to walk outdoors. My husband and I would go to a class called General Fitness. It was like a boot camp program. I really didn't enjoy anyone telling me what to do so early in the morning. I muttle through. We did other things too. But, three years and a few injuries later, I am done. I quit the gym.
I went for a short two mile walk today with my headphones and mp3 player, and was reminded how much I used to love walking outside. It is so relaxing, nobody telling me what to do, and gathering my thoughts for the day.
So now it is Yoga, walking (with Lu Lu), and cycling outside (with my hubby) from now on. I am not sure what I am going to do in the thick of summer yet, but I will cross that bridge when I get to it!
The picture is of my new walking buddy. I know she is going to like that too! (Lu Lu) She really needs the exercise. I would take Angel but, her little legs can only take her so far.

Though I am currently in a gym going phase, I've had plenty of success not belonging to one at all as well. Maybe in the extreme heat of summer you'll do dvds indoors or double up on yoga? Either way, I'm sure you'll think of something. Being gymless isn't such a bad thing.

You gotta do what works for you! Good for you for getting into a groove. ANd I have to say, don't worry about the summer, somehow things usually will work themselves out, you'll find a way!
And I love a good walk (or bike ride) with good company. Although I'm a total gym rat I find get out of doors really helps me center and put all of the superficiality of the gym in perspective. :)

Good for you. Exercise at your own pace on your own time. Fresh air is good.
