Suite 101 Article: Fiber

Ok, the title for the article is boring but, fiber is truly exciting. Especially for weight loss. It is not absorbed by the body, but it makes you feel full. It is awesome for the digestive tract and prevents a myriad of diseases. I hope you are more excited about fiber now.
Katieo on Sister Skinny inspired this one. Thank you Katieo!! She mentioned an article idea for foods that make you feel full. Well, I thought, fiber! It is all the rage right now anyway.

Fiber: the broom for the digestive tract

Like I said before, if you have any ideas that you would like me to make an article on let me know. I will do my best.

Also, I was thinking- because there is such a great online community of Weight Watchers and health blogs I had an idea for two articles.

One would be healthy eating tips from bloggers. If you submit some tips for this, I will include them in my article, give you credit and link to your site.

Two would be healthy eating tips for Weight Watchers specifically. You can submit your best Weight Watchers tips. I would give you credit and link back to your site.

All I would ask is for a post after the article was posted. You could mention in the post that your tips were featured in my article. Win- win, right?

These tips would be featured in an article on the Suite 101 Nutrition site where I am the Nutrition Feature Writer.

Let me know what you think of this.

Well, I've got this great meatball recipe...

Actually, this sounds like an awesome idea. Can they be super obvious tips that even a Slacker could come up with? Crabby loves linkies.

I'll put on my thinking cap and dig around my archives.

Great idea, Samantha. I can't think of much to contribute now beyond how we should learn to read labels. If its the lead ingredient on the label, then that's what the thing has the most of.

Excellent fibre roundup, btw.

Sounds like a good idea, but I couldn't find the bit where you were looking for the healthiest cream filled apple donut recipes!

I know, I know - I'm probably not worthy of your site, but I'm here, you'll just have to learn to live with me!

Hey, the gang's all here!

Poor Samantha will come home to find her nice green site strewn with empty donut boxes, orange juice cartons, cupcake wrappers, and maybe even a few chunks of uneaten whale blubber.

Sorry Samantha, next time we'll tidy up a little.

Hi, Samantha, thanks for stopping by my blog. I'll think of some fiber tips for ya. I'd love to be involved. I'm very pro-fiber!

Hey all! I don't mind a mess so long as you share!

I think that I will work on this little project a little in the near future. I will probably have to solicit other blog author who do not visit me much. I need at least 400 words. I'll work on this and keep you all posted.

Dawn- Healthy cream filled apple donut recipes? Fantastic! There is always room for cream filled apple donuts.Do not say you are not worthy, you so are.

glam- any healthy nutrition tips would be great, not just fiber. Whatever you do that helps you stick to your eating plans, tips or whatever.

(Crabby- meatball recipe?!! I am laughing so hard I'm about to pee my pants!)

ok, sorry, now on to the real comment:
Samantha- Thanks for the mention! I like your article ideas. Although I'm not sure I trust my own advice as far as healthy eating goes. I've actually looked at a couple of your aricles to educate myself :) BUT, I would love to know everyone else's. I think my strength comes in things like, how to throw away food before you stick it in your mouth, or distract yourself from a craving, etc. But if I can think of a definitive piece of advice that I would feel confident giving I will defintatly pass it your way (if you still are considering this for an article).

Hi again--
Okay, so feel free not to use this nutritional tip since my Significant Other thinks it's totally gross and so might many other readers.

But on my blog back in one of the first few posts there's one about sneaking in a really healthy vegetable for breakfast (or for a snack) in a fairly painless fashion.

Basically, if you like pumpkin pie and have a non-caloric sweetner you like, you can add canned pumpkin to low-cal vanilla yogurt, and end up with pumpkin yogurt. (Either in equal parts, if you like it pumpkinny, or more yogurt, if you don't want to add too much sweetner). Sprinkle liberally with pumpkin pie type spices (which are also very healthy: cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, whatever) and add your chosen sweetner. (I use a bit of real brown sugar and a ton of Splenda). You end up with something that's got protien, calcium, probiotics, antioxidants, lots of vitamin A, and of course fiber. It tastes vaguely like pumpkin pie.

And depending on the brand of yogurt/sweetner, it's only 80 calories a cup--the same as plain yucky canned pumpkin would be.

However, as I said, some people would find this too nasty to even contemplate. I kinda like it.

Hi Samantha. Thanks for stopping by the broccoli cake = ) I'd love to play along with healthy tips, though my are somewhat obvious and potentially boring. I'll wordsmith my boring tips until they're so interesting you're head will spin! Huzzah.
