Organic Banana Tracker.

Did you ever wonder where your banana came from? Ok, me neither. I mean, it is not that I don't care, I just never thought about it, much.
Now, if you buy organic Dole bananas, there is a farm number on the sticker. If you go to the Dole Organics website and type in the three digit farm code, you will find out where your banana comes from and how far it has traveled to get to you. Ahhhhhhhhh! The romance of it all!
There is also pictures including the people who grew your banana, too!

These are my banana's location stats-

Country: Ecuador

Farm Units: San Genaro, Las Mercedes and El ChorrĂ³n Farms.

Location: El Oro, Ecuador

Crops: Organic Bananas

Organic Certified since: 2005

I can even find the farm on Google Earth if I want to! Neato!
Now are you wondering where your banana came from?
I got this fabulous info about the banana on another blog a little while ago. I can't find the post or I would tell you (I am all for giving credit where credit is due). Sorry!

Hmmm....

never thought about that. It seems like a neat idea...but after seeing the banana's family (pics of those who grew it), I dunno if I could bring myself to eat the little guy. I'd feel like I was gobbling down someone's kid. :)

I have seen banana plantations (non-organic) in Costa Rica. It's appalling what said plantation does to perfectly good soil.
I think I ought to stop there...

I love that Dole is doing this, hopefully other fruits and veggies will follow suit. Nice!

I think that it is a good idea. what ever motivates up to eat organic. My only issue is, with all the traveling, how many carbons is my little innocent banana responsible for?

Oh my goodness, you folks are all so much more socially responsible than I am!

I should really try to give a crap where my banana comes from, but to be honest? I just don't care.

Bananas, more than other fruit, seem to taste pretty consistently like themselves no matter where they're from. I just have to hope that the socially responsible expensive little market where I buy them is looking out for mother earth. 'Cause I'm way too lazy. But I'm glad you guys are on it!
